No, silly, not for those times with your girlfriend - protection for your cabinets. What you should do is go out and get some of that sticky plastic contact plastic that is designed for lining cabinets and drawers. But instead of peeling off the backing and sticking it to your shelving, just cut it to fit and put it in there - unattached. The weight of the items resting on it will keep it in place, and because it is not attached it will be easy to remove when you want to change it. Easy!
