Pyorrhea is one of the advance periodontal disease. The ligaments and bones that supports the teeth are inflamed when you are experiencing pyorrhea, and it is an effect of gingivitis. When left untreated, pyorrhea can cause bad breath and bleeding gums causing the jaw bone to be eroded or damage and will cause tooth loss.
Pyorrhea is indicated similarly with the symptoms of gingivitis. Gums becomes shiny red or re- purple, bleeds easily, swollen and tender.
Poor nutrition, health problems and unhealthy lifestyle such as smoking and excessive alcohol intake are the factors of having pyorrhea. And it is often also associated with vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, niacin and bioflavonoids deficiency.
Treatment for the disease can be non- surgical if detected earlier by your dentist. To be prevented from having an advance periodontal disease, superior oral health care hygiene should be observed combined with proper nutrition and healthy lifestyle.
