Healthy and normal gums appear to be coral pink. When the gums are affected by periodontal disease it changes in color from coral pink to a more reddish color. And it becomes swollen, and tender. Signs can become obvious in the late and advanced stage of the disease. That is why many are not aware that they are already attacked by the disease. As well as proper oral hygiene, proper diet, regular dental check up and quitting smoking and tobacco use are advised. The use of a good oral care or periodontal treatments are important because it can help banish bad bacteria away from the mouth.
